Why do you need home doormats?
A quality doormat welcomes visitors to your home. In the rainy climate, it keeps your floor cleaner. It reduces the need for vacuuming each time a person steps through the door, so there is no need to use as many cleaning products that contain strong chemicals.
Apartment doormats are a natural way to protect your living space. The accessory captures most dirt and moisture before it enters the living space. Additionally, it catches pollen, allergens, other small particles, wet leaves, salt and snow.
Doormats protect your floors from damage. Tiny bits of stone and grit stuck on shoes act like sandpaper on your floors. These particles scratch and scrape the surface damaging wood and soft vinyl. They make floors look dull. Brush entrance mats stop hard dirt from entering your home.
Where do you place apartment doormats?
The front door is the obvious location for a doormat, but not the only one. A back doormat keeps garden dirt from sneaking through the door. If your apartment has a balcony, placing a mat here makes perfect sense.
The surface beneath apartment doormats should be clean. The accessory has to lie completely flat. This prevents tripping hazards. Some homeowners opt for a slight recess at their entrance. The general rule of thumb is to place it so people naturally step on it when entering.
Many homeowners use two mats: one outside and one inside. The outside mat scraps off mud and large debris. The inside mat catches any remaining dirt and moisture. The inside area can benefit from an EasyMat interior doormat for maximum protection.
What is a natural doormat?
Natural doormats are made from materials found in nature. The most common choice is coir: fibers that come from coconut husks. They are tough, durable, and naturally resistant to water.
The process of creating natural doormats is relatively simple. Workers harvest coconut husks and soak them in water to soften the fibers. They are then extracted, dried, and woven or twisted into thick, sturdy mats. Manufacturers combine natural fibers with a rubber backing to prevent slipping.
Natural doormats’ rough texture scraps dirt from shoes. Users choose them because they are free from synthetic materials and chemicals.
How do you clean home & garden doormats?
Looking after a natural doormat is not time-consuming. Regular shaking and brushing remove trapped dirt. Use a stiff brush and water to clean your mat. Dry it before use. Every few months, perform deep cleaning. Rotate the mat periodically to ensure even wear.
What should you consider when choosing an apartment doormat?
Thicker mats trap more dirt and moisture. Their weight is also important, as heavier mats tend to stay in place better. Look for tight weaving patterns because it lasts longer. Reinforced edges prevent fraying. If you have stairs in front of your house, think about placing anti-slipping mats.
If you have pets, you need a good quality natural doormat. Dogs bring in mud and wet paw prints. Only strong fibers will stand up to claws.
The size of your doormat should match your entrance. Choose an accessory that is at least as wide as the door frame. For double doors, pick a mat that covers the entire opening. This ensures people will not accidentally step around the mat.
